April Weather Report

April was a very pleasant month. Warm weather has continued. Many highs were in the low eighties. Nights have been slightly warmer too, with lows around 60. The rain total for the month was 4.5 inches, topping March's total of 3.7. Winds have decreased and we had several calm days.

Meteorologists have been predicting an early start of the rainy season. This proved out, with two heavy downpours in the second half of the month. Global weather belts are moving north with the sun. We have been under the influence of the trade winds since late November, which brought us high winds, dry air, spray rain, and rainbows. Since mid-April we've been seeing to the south of us the mushroom clouds, lightening, and heavy rains of the intertropical convergence zone (or ITCZ). The ITCZ has now reached us, there has been a noticeable increase in the humidity, and we are looking forward to a lot more rain from now on.

Happy gardening!
